Walking Away the Pounds ~ Day 2

I got an earlier start, this morning! Yay, me! lol
I did the same workout as yesterday. The DVD I have is a 5-Day Walking Workout, but I decided to do Day 1 this week, and start Day 2 next week, etc. I'm hoping that will make it easier on the muscles.

I stepped on the scale. It now reads XXX.X lbs, making it .4lbs more than yesterday. :( But, that's okay. It will go down, soon, I hope.

I have a busy day, today. Gotta make a lot of AVON deliveries!!

Walking Away the Pounds ~ Day 1

Day One didn't go as planned. Anthony was off work, today, so none of us got up early. I didn't know he was off until after I had written yesterday's post. But I did manage to get a workout in.

I stepped on the scale, this morning. It said "XXX.X lbs". You didn't think I'd actually tell you what it was, did you?!!! lol

The first set on the Walking Away the Pounds DVD, was the One-Mile Walk. I did some side-stepping, knee-lifts, back-kicks, and front-kicks, as well as just plain march in place. For the second half of the mile, I used two 2lb weight balls. I did some arm-lifts: up and down, side to side, and front to back. After the mile, I did some small stretches in my legs and arms.

Nothing major, today. Just a small Mile, but I did it! So, yay for me! I think I'll celebrate with a big chocolate bar!! Just kidding!!!

In other news around here.....

The boys are doing their schoolwork. Lane and Jacob are actually enjoying their Division work. I'm beginning to wonder if my boys have been envaeded by some Math Crazed Monsters!! LOL Blake is enjoying his Math, too. But, he did last year, as well. So that's nothing new! Landon does school work, too! lol His consists of Word World and other programs on PBSKids. Today, he came to me and spelled SCHOOL, HAT, and PIG. He was so proud of himself! As was this Momma!!

Anthony is off work today, but he's not home. He's getting ready to go hunting this weekend with his Dad and Brother. He's taking Lane with him. And speaking of Hunting and Lane.... Lane got his very first deer Saturday!!! He was so excited!!! He can't wait to go again, this weekend. Anthony has been trying to get his gun sighted in, before he goes, so that's what he's doing today.

My brother and Sister in Law are moving!! :( :)!! I'm so excited for them! They have been waiting for this to happen for far too long. But, I am sad for me. In a way I am losing her, because we probably won't see as much of each other as we have been, but I will still see her every week. Maybe more than once, who knows. She'll only be an hour away, but and hour is much further than 2 minutes. We've talked about taking turns each week, and one day I'll go up to see her, and the next week, she'll take a day to come see me. But, that may or may not happen. Depends on everything that is going on in our lives. Maybe sometimes, she can come down for the day, and we'll go out to see Mom and my Sister. We have so many ideas that we've talked about. I know I'll miss those moments of calling and popping over whenever we wanted, though. But, our goal is to one day move also. It just may be awhile. We're not in a place in our lives where we can move just yet. Gotta take care of some things first. And it's not like we've never talked about it before, anyway. Anthony has always wanted to move to the Conway area, but it's never been an option for us. Now, it's become one, so he's really wanting to do that. We may wait til Spring to put the house up for sale, then see how long it takes to sell.

Well, I need to make my 1 Mile count for something. Time to get some work done around here. Get the boys finished with some schoolwork and fix lunch for those ever growing hollow legs!!!

Walking Away My Pounds (Getting in Shape)

So. I'm needing to lose some more weight, yet again. SIGH!!! I can never seem to keep it off. Well, I am so determined to exercise (everyday) that I am gonna blog about it. I know. Boring!!! But, it helps me to stay motivated to blog about it!!

I Need a Break!!

I have sadly neglected my poor blog, lately. I've had so much going on, it got put on the back burner. My goal, when I started this blog, was to post (at least) three times a week. I wanted to post something everyday, but knew that was an unlikely goal. But, I never dreamed how hard it would be to do just three times a week.

My life has been so crazy lately. I'm not complaining. Don't get me wrong. I know there are others out there who have worse problems than I do. But, for me, it's been almost more than I can handle. God has not given me more than that, but there have been times when I have felt close to the edge of my sanity.

I started selling Avon, this summer, to help my husband bring in some income (and still stay home with my boys). It's going okay, but I need it to do better. I'll get there, it's just gonna take time. I have a booth at Old Fashion Day on October 8th. I'm sharing a booth with Nicole, who sells Pampered Chef. Hopefully that will bring the both of us many prospects for new customers. If your in the area, come by the courthouse square and say "Hey!" We'll be there all day!!

We "started" school a few weeks ago. We basically do school all year round, so we can take breaks when needed. Our summer was pretty busy, so we didn't do much, but our year started over a few weeks ago. I decided to go ahead and get going with the new school year, because I was tired of bored boys. It's been WAY too hot for them and with no room to do much inside, I was starting to pull my hair out. So, school started. Lane is now in 6th grade, Jacob moved on to 4th, Blake is now a 1st grader, and Landon is my Preschooler!
Well, the first two days went fairly smooth. The big boys got all their work for those two days done in a good, timely manner. Then, Landon got an extremely bad cold, that kept him and me up for several days. Poor baby was miserable. Then, just as he began to feel better, I came down with it. Mine was much worse. I think the reason for this, was I was run down, to start with, from lack of sleep while he was sick. Now, I was getting no sleep, because I couldn't breathe. It lasted almost two weeks.

Just as I was starting to feel human again, we did something REALLY crazy! We got a PUPPY!!! She's adorable. She was not quite 5 weeks old. The owner was moving, and couldn't take the puppies with her, so she had to get rid of them a bit early. That first night was NOT FUN! Poor Baby (the boys named her Bella Rose) missed her Mommy. We also feed her too much supper, that night. I've never cared for a puppy before, and the directions on the puppy food bag confused me. I fed her a whole day's ration for supper. Her poor tummy hurt all night, I'm sure. She peed and pooped all night. So, once again, no sleep for me! I know, I know! I was crazy to agree to this.

Two days later, Lane came down with that rotten cold. The rest of the boys went and spent a few days with Grandma and Pappaw, before she started back to school. (Needless to say, school was put on hold from day 3 on.....) While the boys were gone, Lane and I did a LOT of resting. I needed sleep!!! All the things I had planned on doing while they were gone, did not get done. I slept instead. And Lane was here to take care of Bella. The boys went to the Grandparent's on Tuesday, August 2nd. Lane and I met them halfway, to get them back on Friday.

Anthony, in the meantime, started feeling bad on Wednesday. His gut was hurting. He's had many health issues with his gut, so we were a bit worried that it might be one of those come back. He came home from work, Friday, just before we left to get the boys. He decided to take a nap while we were gone, since we were suppose to go to a birthday party for the twins, that night.
I had just gotten to the boys, when he called and told me he was headed to the ER. The pain had gotten very severe. He didn't want to go through the weekend without getting it seen about. He told me to get the boys, go on to the party, and he's let me know if I needed to come up there. Well, his Mom and Dad decided to just go on up, too. I took the boys to the party ( I was gonna have to take them there and leave them, anyway, if he decided he wanted me up there.
Long story short...they admitted him for Pancreatitis. (one of the problems he'd had before) So, I left the boys with Mom and Dad and headed up to the hospital. He finally got to come home on Wednesday evening. But, we were back at the ER the next day. They decided they had rushed his recovery a bit soon, but we got to go back home, that day, and he started feeling better after that. Treatment for Pancreatitis is, IV fluids, pain meds, and Gut Rest. He was not allowed to even have ice chips for a few days. They then allowed clear liquids and then soft foods. They just moved him too quickly from liquids to food. So, on Thursday, they sent him back home on a liquid diet, again. He finally had real food, again, on Monday.
While in the hospital, we didn't get any rest. (Well, he was on pain meds, so he slept off and on) I guess it's a good thing I was able to get a couple of days of napping done, while the kids were gone. God knew I was gonna need to get my strength back up for the hospital stay.

Well, school "started" back up again, Monday. For two days, things went pretty smooth. Then, Landon started feeling bad. He didn't sleep well last night, so neither did I. Wait......I already said all that! No, wait....it's happening all over again!!!!! *sigh* I don't know how much more of this I can handle. I know God will be there with me, and He won't give me more than I can handle, but I'm SO TIRED!!!

At least, this time, I was able to get the boys' schoolwork set up to where they could do the work they do on their own, without me telling them what to do. They already knew in advance. So the difference in today, and last time? They got up and did their work, and didn't have to wait on me!! And they both finished up in a timely manner. Now, all we have left for today, is some reading I need to do with them.

Anthony feels much better, now. He just has to be VERY careful what he eats. He's basically on a bland diet of Fish, Chicken, and Turkey.

Yes, my life has been crazy lately. But, the hospital stay could have been longer. Anthony could have been sicker. This too shall pass. I am just thankful we were able to spend our 13th wedding anniversary at home, Monday, rather than at the hospital. And, I'll get some sleep one of these days.....I think.. lol

School Time!!!

It's that time of the year, again! School! Yes, we are starting a bit early, this time. But, we took off a little early, so we've had plenty of break time. Now, it is time to fix the boredom and give these boys something to do! LOL

Math:
We are going to stick with Math-U-See. Blake is moving up the Alpha, and Lane and Jacob will start Delta. As a fun supplement to our math, this year, Lane and Jacob will also be doing Your Business Math Series. Each will be running his own store for 26 weeks. Lane has a book store and Jacob has a pet store. They are excited about this fun adventure. Their first assignment is Monday, and they have to come up with a Company name and Logo.

Language Arts:
We went back to Christian Light Education (CLE) for some subjects; Language Arts being one of them. Blake is doing the Learning to Read Series and the other two are doing grade appropriate L.A. Lane will also be learning how to use Resource books. He will be using Learning How to Learn. Lane will also be practicing Diagramming for a while.

Bible:
This was another subject that we went back to CLE for. Lane will be going through the Bible from Creation to Revelation, while Jacob will be starting in Acts and working his way to Revelation ~ and then work his way through the life of Jesus Christ. Blake and Landon will be listening to me read stories from Egermeier's Bible Story Book.

Reading:
Reading is the other subject we went back to CLE for. When Blake gets done with the LTR Series, he'll move on to Reading and L.A. Lane and Jacob will do grade appropriate Reading courses. Lane and Jacob will also be supplementing with daily reading. They will read a chapter from a book they are given, then complete an assignment. Lane will write a summary of the chapter and Jacob will illustrate something from the chapter. They will also be reading separate books. Lane will be starting with the hidden treasure of glaston, while Jacob gets The Merry Adventures of Robin Hood from Great Illustrated Classics.

Art:
Jacob is my arty child, so at this time, he is the one doing art. Each day he will receive a project from me.

Science:
We are using Apologia. We are about finished with Astronomy. It had to take a back burner for a bit, but we're back with it. When we finish it, we will move on to Botany.
We are also reading about Johannes Kepler.

History:
At the moment we are reading some books on Middle Ages and Civil War. When we finish that we will start 180 Days Around the World. Jacob will also be doing activity sheets on each state.

Other:
We are also going to start the God's Design for Sex Series. It is a 4 book set that starts with ages 3-5, moves to 5-8, then 8-11, and ends with 11-14. As we read each book, I'll be doing so with only the ones old enough for each book. All 4 will be in on the first, then we will read without Landon, then without Blake, and finally without Jacob. As each of them hit the next age appropriate book, we will reread them.
I also will have some Classical Music going at different times of the day, and we will discuss the music and composers. Also, I have some small copies of famous paintings that we can discuss along with the artists.

Landon:
In the meantime, I have a 3yo who thinks he's just as big as anyone else. I may go ahead a start him on some light preschool stuff. He loves to do "coolwork" too! He already knows the alphabet, most numbers, and pretty much all the colors, so we may do something that reinforces that. I have a preschool program for him, but if it proves to be too much for him, I'll probably order the CLE preschool stuff. Blake enjoyed those.

Affle Spouse

On our way home from Church and Lunch, today, we past the Waffle House, that sits close to home.
Everytime we pass this Waffle House, my husband asks the boys what the sign would say if the W was missing. They are getting a little tired of his joke (lol), so they roll their eyes and all say," Affle House, Daddy, we know!!" He gets a big kick out of it! LOL
Today, Blake turned the tables on him. Before He could ask them, Blake said, "Daddy, what would it say if the H was missing?" lol Anthony looked down at him and grinned. "Waffle Ouse, Daddy!!", Blake said! One of the other bosy decided to get silly with it, and said, "Well, what if you took the H and put SP instead? It would say Waffle Spouse! Hahaha" Then Blake said, "Or you could take the W and it would say Affle Spouse!! Wouldn't that be funny, Momma?" Anthony and I looked at each other and started laughing. I asked Blake if he knew what a Spouse was. He said, "Yeah. It's a kind of pool!"

HUH????

We had to explain what a Spouse really was, and then he saw why we thought it was so funny. So now, Anthony is my Affle Spouse!!! LOL

Noah Estes

Meet Noah

Noah Estes is a little 4yo boy, that has pulled at my heartstrings over the last year. Noah is one of (I think) 8 children.

You can read Noah's story of his first couple of years here. Noah has a disease called complex 1 mitochondrial encephalomyopathy. You can read about Mito here. There is no treatment for this disease. There is no cure.

Please go to Praying For Noah and read about this precious little boy. This family has been going through so much lately. Please join me and many others in praying for this little guy, and his family.

They also have some things they sell here to help pay for some things for Noah. They have to travel back and forth to doctor quite a bit, and that's rough on a sick 4yo. One Thousand Gifts: Part 2

Well, I've been reading "one thousand gifts" for a week, now. Click on the picture to order this book.

So, what do I think about it?

While I'm finding it hard to read it, due to the fact that it seems the author starts rambling, alot; I still have enjoyed it. I just have to read it in bits and pieces.

The first chapter tells of two stories of children dying. The reason for this, I think, is to show you why the author felt the need to have joy in her life.

The second chapter, she has a horrid nightmare, that makes her realize that she wanted to live life to the fullest. She reads Luke 22:19. She reads a word ~ Eucharisteo. She begins to really pay attention to this word, and what it means. She pretty much did a word study on this Greek word.

An excerpt from chapter 2:
     " I whisper it out loud, let the tongue feel these sounds, the ear hear their truth.
       Charis. Grace.
       Eucharisteo. Thanksgiving.
       Chara. Joy.
       A triplet of stars, a constellation in the black.
       A threefold cord that might hold a life? Offer a way up into the fullest life?
       Grace, thanksgiving, joy. Eucharisteo.
       A Greek word... that might make meaning of everything?"

Wow!! Very powerful!

The rest of the chapter is about how she spends a few days thinking about and studying how to have grace, thanksgiving, and joy.

I cannot wait to read the next chapter!!

We were suppose to go to the in-laws, over the holiday weekend. My MIL wanted family pictures. We hadn't had any since before Reagan was born, back in November. It was also Anthony's older brother, Jonathan, and HIS oldest son, Connor's birthdays. Connor is now a TEENAGER!!! When did THAT happen?!!!

Well, due to illness, of sorts, I was unable, at the last minute, to go. So, Anthony decided to go on ahead and take the boys, anyway. That would give me a quiet weekend to relax, and the boys could still see the family.

They went ahead and did the pictures. Here are a few:

A Typical School Day

I decided to post a few pictures from two recent school days. I thought it might be fun to show everyone what Landon does while the others are doing their work.

One day, the boys were busy plugging away at their work, and Landon was a bit bored. So, what did I find for him to do?

He washed dishes!! He had so much fun! I had actually just finished washing all these lids and cups, but decided to throw them back in the water, so he had something to do.

He thought he was big stuff! LOL

Then he wanted to wash the pan. I hadn't washed it yet, but thought he'd have fun with it anyway. He just stood there on his chair, wiping that dishrag up and down that pan, giggling the entire time.

He actually got it pretty clean!!

He was saying, "Did I do good job, Momma? I like washin' dishes!"
I told him he did an excellent job, then asked him if I could finish the pan, before rinsing it off. He said, "Sure!!", and grinned his classic Landon Grin, and offered me a kiss!

On another day, the other boys were plugging away, again.

Where was Landon? What was he doing, this time?

Sleeping!!! He was one tired little boy!! LOL

Actually, on a typical school day, Landon wants to be right there with the rest of them, doing his "coolwork" too! He does math and Bible and reading, just like everyone else!! LOL That means he colors on paper!! LOL

Butterfly Experiment

In late March and most of April, I decided to do an experiment with the boys. We decided to grow butterflies. I sent off for the Caterpillers, in the mail. The boys were so excited when they finally came. They were Painted Lady Butterflies. I was unable to get pics of the caterpillers, because they had to stay in the plastic container for a few days. All I was getting was glare. As soon as they all crawled to the top, and formed their cacoons, we took them out and pinned them to the butterfly cage. One had fallen off, before the rest had even got to the top, but I decided to go ahead and dump it into the bottom of the cage, to see what would happen. The boys figured it was dead, but I decided to wait and see. It was the first one to be cacooned, so I figured if the others hatched first, it was probably dead.

Here are the remaining four, after we got them pinned to the side of the cage.

And Lo and behold, the one they thought was dead, was not. One morning, they got up and there it was.

The booklet, that came with them, said we could either put fresh cut flowers with sugar water sprinkled on them, a wad of paper towels soaked in sugar water, or fesh slices of oranges or watermelon in to the cage, after they emerged. So, we decided on oranges.

A couple of days later? Two more!

Here's the first one.

Then, the remaining two, the next day. We caught them before they had left the spot the cacoons were.

Here's all four. One seemed to be enjoying the oranges.

Aren't they beautiful?!!

I had read where they only lasted a couple of weeks, plus we noticed some ants in the house, which we figured out were headed for the yummy oranges. So, we decided to go ahead and let them go. This one just wouldn't let go! LOL I finally had to tap on the cage a couple of times, to jar it loose. It then, found its way out and flew around us a bit, before following the others. The boys LOVED it!

And so, concludes our little experiment! Didn't God do an excellent job, when he designed and created these creatures? I think so!!

Word World Birthday Party

Landon had his 3rd birthday, May 13th. He LOVES Word World. Actually, that's an understatement! LOL Anyway, he desperately wanted a Word World Birthday, so my SIL, Nicole, and I put our heads together and came up with some cute things. Then, we asked our friends, on Facebook, if they had any ideas. Our dear friend, Audra, had some excellent ones!!! Thanks, Audra! Your ideas made the party!!!

We had the party at Will and Nicole's. 1) Because we wanted it outside, and no room here. 2) Had to change, last minute, from Mom and Dad's. Mom and Dad, Will and Nicole, the Twins (Meredith and Seth), Isaac (my other nephew), and Johnny and Carol (the other grandparents) all came. We had a total of 15 of us.

First we grilled hot dogs and ate supper. Then we had the three little ones find letters to spell Landon's full name. They had a blast doing that. Sad thing is, we didn't think to take pics of this game. We had all the letters they needed, plus the rest of the alphabet (in different colors) taped onto the side of the house. They ran back and forth between the letters and the grandparents, till they were done. When they finished, we spelled the words.

After the game, Landon opened his presents.

Grandma and Pappaw (Anthony's parents) got the Tractor and Fireman Mud Boots!

Uncle Will, Aunt Nicole, Meredith, and Seth got him a Tray to use while sitting on the floor. He LOVED it!

We got him a some games. ABC and 123 Matching Games and a Seek and Find Game. He was so excited!

Boy! What a mess!

The kids helped clean up the mess, so we could have cake!

My cutie of a Niece!! The Tiger was 1 of 3 Stuffed Animals, we pinned words to.

After presents, we had cake. Before we showed the cake, we played another game. If any of you have ever seen Word World, you know the songs they sing before and after building a word. Well, we sang, "Let's Build a Word", then laid out the letters C A K and E. We sounded them out,smooshed them together, and built the word. We then sang, "We Built a Word!", and out popped the cake!!

He loved building the Cake!! LOL

Nicole made the cake! She did an awesome job.

We sang Happy Birthday to him then

And blew out the candles

Then we all told him, "Landon! Share the cake! Don't eat the cake!!" He loved it! He just grinned so big. That came from an episode where the animals all tell Pig to not eat the pie but share the pie! One of his favorite ones.

We had a great time, but I cannot believe my Baby is THREE already!! As Lucy would say, "WHAAAA!" Where did the time go?

One Thousand Gifts

I finally started reading "One Thousand Gifts", by Ann Voskamp.

I'll have to let you know how much I enjoy it, as I read it. I've heard so many praise it, so I'm excited about finally getting to, myself. This book is suppose to be about living our lives with joy. Since "Joy" is my word for 2011, I decided to read it.

I have such a hard time being joyful, these days. So much is going on in our life right now. I tend to struggle with being a bit depressed, when things aren't going quite the way I think they oughta. So, I'm hoping this book can help me with that. But, I know that ONLY the BIBLE itself can truely help me in all things. That's something none of us should forget.

So, anyway, I am very excited about reading this book, so I just might have to do some posts about it, as I read it.

So much has been happening in our area, lately. Horrible storms, fatal tornadoes, and fatal flooding all around us. Alabama got it worse, but we had friends who got hit by the Vilonia, Arkansas one, too. Their propery was (and still is) a mess. The house was damaged, the barn is gone, trees down everywhere.

My Thankfulness for Today:

The entire family was uninjured!! They all made it to the storm celler. Yes, there were some scary moments for them, but they are all safe and sound! Praise God for that!

Blueberry Angelfood Cake

1 Angelfood Cake Mix
1 Can Blueberry Pie Filling

Mix together. Do not add anything else. Bake at 350* until golden brown (about 30 min). Remove and let it cool. Cut into 24 pieces. Each piece is worth 2 WW points! Yummy!

FOR TODAY... April 5, 2011

Outside my window... Clear Blue Sky, and a Sunshiny Day!

I am thinking... of my husband's family. His cousin buried one of his 7 mo twins over the weekend. SIDS.

I am thankful for... my heater. I should have remembered to turn it on last night. When we got up, it was 59* in our house! BRRRRRR!!!! It's finally 68*.

I am wearing... a green skirt, and peach shirt. Comfy!
I am going... to hopefully recover from my pnuemonia VERY SOON!!!

I am currently reading... The Shack, by William Paul Young. My Sister-in-Law reccomended it to me. I admit, it's strange, but it has some insightful things in it, too.

From the learning rooms... Ugh! Things could be going smoother. It has not been a good year where school is concerned. But, Lane and Jacob will be taking their year end tests next week. Lane will do fine. Jacob will, too, but it's his first year, so he's a bit nervous. They only have to take this test from 3rd-9th.

I am creating... Hair Bows, Pass-It-On Gifts for 10 friends, and a general mess!!!

I am hoping... we can get our Schoolroom finished before the end of the summer. Not sure if we can, but we can try!

On my mind... So many things, right now. Some sad, some happy.

Noticing that... it's already April! When did THAT happen??!!!

A few plans for the rest of the week: Get caught back up. This pnuemonia has really taken a toll on me, as well as my house.

Here is picture for thought I am sharing... One day, my brother, Will, and his wife, Nicole, had come ovver for dinner. Afterwards, we girls were cleaning up. Nicole used her hands to wipe the bread crumbs off the counter. After she was done, she looked and found these three crumbs left.......

My poor blog has been so neglected, lately. I have been so busy with so many things, that it got put on the back burner.
I am finally getting my house put back together, the way I want it. I'm almost done. Nicole has been coming quite often, and we've been working very hard.
My niece, Reagan, is almost 3 months old. She is schedualed for open heart surgery, Feb 23rd. They will be swapping the two main arteries to where they are supposed to be, and try to close up all the holes in her heart. Her blood type is A+, and Red Cross is accepting donations for her. Several people will be donating tomorrow. Anthony can donate for her, but not me. I really need go donate someday, though. I have AB-, which is the rare type, so I'm sure it's probably needed.
The kids and I have been sick, off and on, since Christmas Day. Now, the youngest two, are sick again. Blake has fever, cough, stuffy nose, and sore throat. Landon has a runny nose, a cough, says his "trote huwts", and his "tummy ache huwts up here (as he points to his chest). I had him breathe in and out real good, and he said it hurt. I tried to get them to the doctor, today, but I think the entire population around here, has sick kids. I'm still trying to get them in tomorrow.
Anthony's car bit the dust, so he's having to take mine to work. Which means, I'm home. If I can get the kids to the doctor tomorrow, Nicole will come let me use her car. Thanks, Sis!
My Sister, April, was admitted to the hospital, Wednesday morning, with several bloodclots in both lungs. She's back home now, but it was a pretty scarey time for all of us. None of us could get there to see her, due to the snow. But, I saw her for a bit after she got home, and she looed really good.
My mother had to come get my nephew, April's son, Isaac, early Wednesday morning, so she came and got Blake, too. They stayed with Mom and Dad during the snow days. They had a great time, and it kept Isaac's mind off of his Momma.
We got about 6 inches of snow Wednesday. The boys loved it. Anthony drove my car to work, and stayed all night, so he wouldn't have to try to drive Wednesday night and Thursday morning. My brother, Will, came Wednesday night, and got me and the other three boys, and took us to his house. So, the boys and I got to spend 2 days with Nicole and the Twins. We had a lot of fun. Anthony came home Thursady evening, and we all just decided to stay another night. Friday night, my other brother, Cody, had come to town, and the guys decided they wanted Guys Night Out. So, the three of them and Lane and Jacob came to our house, with Will's XBOX (or something) and played games till late. Nicole and I kept the three 2 year olds at her house, and cleaned. We ended up putting them all to bed, so Landon and I stayed one more night. When Will left here, he brought me my car, so I could just get up Saturday morning and go home. After a day of cleaning house, for both of us, Nicole and I got a Ladies Night Out! We saw a movie, ate Japanese (1st time for me, and I LOVED it!), and then went to Wal-Mart and got groceries! lol
I got all my Scentsy last night night! I LOVE it all!

Well, lots to do today, so gotta get busy! Hopefully, I can stop neglecting my poor blog, now.

Outside my window... There is a ton of snow on the ground!!!

I am thinking... how nice it would be if I had felt like going out to build a snowman with the boys, yesterday.

I am thankful for... my Mother! I know I've said it before, but I really am!!!

I am wearing... my PJs. I'm about to get a shower, so haven't changed, yet.

I am remembering... all the fun times we had, as kids, when it snowed!

I am going... to probably stick at home a few more days.

I am currently reading... nothing this week. I've startd several books (none of which are fiction), but I'm about to start over and read one at a time.

From the learning rooms... Math, Grammer, Copywork, Bible, and Creative Writing are all being done today.

I am creating... a book list for both me and the boys, for this year, and a list of 12 things I want to do this year.

I am hoping... I can stick to all the things I want to accomplish this year.

On my mind... Anthony's Grandma. She's not doing very well. They have now put her in Hospice Care.

Pondering these words... Psalm 5:3 "My voice shalt thou hear in the morning, O LORD; in the morning will I direct my prayer unto thee, and will look up."
I am hearing... the boys have fun in the snow. I'm not letting them play too long, since they've been sick.

Preparing for Heaven in 2011

You all read my post here telling of some of my New Year's Resolutions. Well, I have modified it a bit so that it doesn't seem so overwhelming to me. (This may be a little long. I apologize now.)

And that is the why behind my Title. Preparing for Heaven in Twenty-Eleven. My biggest and first goal is to Prepare my family and myself for a Home in Heaven, some day. Now, don't get me wrong. We're not just now starting this, but we are working harder at it. Especially for myself. This past few years have really taken its toll on me. With constant sickness/surgeries for all of us, it has gotten me down. Well, I'm gonna pick myself up by the bootstraps, so to speak, and with God's help, this will be a better year!!

So, my main "GOALS" for this year are to become Spiritually, Physically, and Emotionally Healthy.

That's it. Those are my goals. Now, I know those include many things, but this keeps it from overwhelming me.

The more complicated list would look something like this:

Personal Goals:

Read my Bible through in one year. (I did this last year, but I'm gonna do it a bit different this year. I'm using a list from here , doing the Chronological List. I think it will be very interesting to read the Bible in this order.)
Study more. (I'll tell you about that further in the post.)
Become more organized. (I'll explain this further in the post, also.)
Exercise, eat better, drink more water, and get more sleep.
Do 12 things I've either never done before, or that I haven't done in a long time. (I'll post that list soon.)
Read some books from a list I have created. (I'll post that list soon, too.)

Family Goals:

Have the boys read their Bible each day. (They also have a list from the same site, I got mine. Lane is reading the Bible in a year, in order. Jacob is doing it in two years, one day Old Testament, the next New Testament.)
Family Devotion Time every night.
Read a Proverb a Day on months with 31 days.
Read Psalms on the other months.
Read to the Boys everyday from a book from a list we created. (I'll share it soon, as well.)
Go to the Library more often.
Have a Family Day, at least once a month, and I'm hoping for twice. (It really depends on Anthony's work schedule.)
I'd like to have a one-on-one date with each boy, each month.
Have Family Night twice a month.
Stick to a stricter School Schedule.
Less T.V., Movies, D.S.s, and other mind-numbing things.
Play more games, especially thinking games.
Get our Finances in a state to were we can do for others more.

This list is by no means it. It is just the basics. Now to explain a couple of these, further.

I've decided to do a few things, this year, to help me become a better, wife, mother, Christian, and homemaker.

Melissa Ringstaff from A Virtuous Woman has daily challenges for women, called From Chaos to Calm: 15 Weeks to a Happy Home that helps women get back on track. A quick rundown of the challenge: Each morning we wake up to a new email for that day. She gives you a memory verse and a quick encouraging word. Each week we focus on a new goal and build on them as we go. The main gaol is to have peace in our homes. Check it out!

Brenda, over at Unsolicited Advice, has begun a a goal for 2011. One Year to a {more} Organized Life is a week-to-week challenge to become more organized. So, far we have Found Our Purpose (or reason for wanting to become more organized.) And this week, we are doing the Bare Minimum (or what HAS to be done each day, to get through the day. Ex: Personal Hygiene, Wash Dishes, and Schoolwork for the Boys)

Ms. Candace, from Sonbeams, has started a weekly discussion on how to become a better wife and a better parent in 2011, based on some books from Doorposts. These books are As Unto the Lord and For Instruction in Righteousness. I'm really enjoying these.

Angela and Courtney, over at Good Morning Girls, will be starting a daily reading in the Book of James, on January 17th, that goes through to April 15th. Each weekday, we will read 2 verses, using the S.O.A.P. way of study. S.O.A.P., for those of you who don't know, is done in this way. S ~ Read and then Write the Scripture you are reading, that day. You will have written the entire Book of James when done. O ~ Write down 1 or 2 Observations from the passage. A ~ Write down 1 or 2 ways you can Apply the passage to your life. And P ~ Pray about what you have learned from that passage. You can write down your prayer, if you want. I am excited to start this!!!

These 4 things, plus reading my Bible daily, will give me lots of time in God's Word. Along with reading a Proverb a Day and Psalms with the boys, and whatever their daily Bible Reading for School is, plus the Daily Devotions in the evenings, having the boys read each day on their own, will help them start at an early age getting into God's Word. (That was a horrible sentence. My English Teacher (aka ~ Mother) will be horrified! lol)

I am thinking... of how much I wish I could be at the hospital, with my Brother-in-Law ans Sister-in-Law, today, as they wait on thier Baby Girl's check up.

I am remembering... my trip to Colorado, when I was 19. I had so much fun with the Church Family.

From the learning rooms... School starts back this week. I think we're going to try alternating days of different subjects. Math, Grammer, Copywork, and such ~ 3 days a week. History, Science, and Extras ~ Twice. We'll see how that turns out.
I am creating... 5 handmade gifts for 5 friends. I can't say what they are just yet.

I am hoping... The boys and I are all well, soon. These nasty colds are hanging on a bit too long for my taste.

Could someone explain these verses to me?

Now, about Proverb 31:10-31. I know I said I'd put my thoughts on these verses, in here at the end of the year. I'm still not ready to do that. I'm hoping that I can put some major study into these verses after the first of the new year. My plan, and we all know how those can go nuts, is to take a whole month and study a verse a day. I think I can get more out of it that way. I hope to post my studying as I do it. *Fingures Crossed* lol I haven't done so well with keeping up with my daily bible posting this year. Hope I can do better next year. I have many plans for this blog.

   How terrible! Are we HOT in our faithfulness? Even being COLD is betterb than being LUKEWARM!!

I'm not sure how many comments you'll see with the rest of this Book. This is NOT one I fully understand.

Just because someone is young, doesn't mean others can not learn from them.

6:6 But godliness with contentment is great gain.
:7 For we brought nothing into this world, and it is certain we can carry nothing out.
:8 And having food and raiment let us be therewith content. Why do we always feel the need to get more and more things? We didn't bring any of into this world when we were born, and we can't take it with us when we die. We need to be content with food and clothes, and be very thankful when God provides us with other things. We need to stop expecting things and start helping those who have nothing.

I love these verses. They bring such comfort, just by reading them.

We need to understand God's Word, so we can tell others.

   One of our boys is learning this verse.

:105 Thy word  is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.
      If we follow God's Word, it will light up our Christian Walk.

Outside my window... It is cold out there!

I am thinking... of my beatiful niece!

I am thankful for... Arkansas Children's Hospital

I am wearing... Pink Lounge Pants, Brown Turtleneck, and a Dark Green TShirt w/ Gingerbread People on it.

I am remembering... My boys' big eyes on Christmas morning.
I am currently reading... Me, Myself, and Bob by Phil Visher (the man who made Veggie Tales),Love & War Devotional for Couples by John & Stasi Eldredge, and The Inheritance by Louisa May Alcott.

From the learning rooms... We are taking a break til the end of the year, then hitting the books again on the 3rd of January. The boys have been learning many interesting facts about our Solar System. They got to watch the Lunar Eclipse last week. They LOVED it. We are gonna try something different for Blake, and see if we can't get him to learn to read soon.

I am creating... a schoolwork schedual for the month of January.

I am hoping... That Reagan will continue to improve, so she can have her surgery soon.

On my mind... Our niece, Reagan. She was born in November, and they discovered she has several holes in her heart, and her Pulmonary and Aortic Arteries are swapped. They have to do Open Heart Surgery soon.

Noticing that... My baby is no longer a baby! :(

One of my favorite things... Baby Nieces!! My "Little Rose" (Reagan) is so sweet and tiny and wonderful!

A few plans for the rest of the week: To get the house caught up before time for school to start back up.

Here is picture for thought I am sharing...

Reagan Olivia (my "Little Rose") just a couple of days before she went home from Children's.

Right after her procedure to have a stint put in one of the holes. They wanted to make it bigger, to allow more oxygen in her heart, and to help her get strong enough for the open heart surgery.

Isn't she precious? After 3 sons, and 7 grandsons, my In-Laws are overjoyed to have a Granddaughter. We pray for her health.

Colossians 3:2 Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth.
There isn't anything on this earth that is more important than God.

4:6 Let your speech be alway with grace, seasoned with salt, that ye may know how ye ought to answer every man.
We are the salt of the earth, so we need to always remember that, and speak as though we have that salt with us at all times.
