Obadiah & Jonah

I don't have any comments about Obadiah.

Jonah is an interesting story for children to read. My boys love to hear about the man that was inside a whale. But there is so much more to the story.
Jonah was prophet. God told him to go to Nineveh and tell them that they were wicked and God was angry with them. Instead, Jonah headed to Tarshish to try to leave God's presence. It didn't work. God caused a huge storm to come, which caused the sailors to throw Jonah into the sea. God then caused a whale to come and swallow Jonah. He stayed in the whale for three days and three nights. Jonah then repented his actions and prayed to God, and God caused the whale to spit Jonah out onto dry land.
God then told Jonah, again, to go to Nineveh and tell them they would be destroyed for their wickedness. This time, he obeyed God and went. But, the entire city, including the king, repented and prayed that God would forgive them. Of course, God did, because He is not cruel. Jonah, on the other hand, was very upset about it. He decided that he'd just gone through a city and told them they were all going to die, and now he was going to look like a liar and an idiot. So, he decided that God must be going to do something, so he waited to see it happen. It was very hot, so God made a shade for Jonah. He then made a worm eat it and destroy it. Jonah grew very upset about this. God asked him why he grieved over a plant, but had no mercy toward an entire city.
Do we show mercy and kindness to those we think may not deserve it?

The next chapters are Psalms 117 & 118.
