James

James 1:5 If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him.
:6 But let him ask in faith, nothing wavering. For he that wavereth is like a wave of the sea driven with the wind and tossed.
:7 For let not that man think that he shall receive any thing of the Lord.
All we have to do is ask in faith, and we will receive. But if we ask and do not have the faith He will answer, then we will not receive.

:19 Wherefore, my beloved brethren, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath:
:20 For the wrath of man worketh not the righteousness of God.
   Wrath is never the answer.

:27 Pure religion and undefiled before God and the Father is this, To visit the fatherless and widows in their affliction, and to keep himself unspotted from the world.
God commands us to care for the widows and orphans.

4:10 Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and he shall lift you up.
We should never be prideful in God's presence (which is always).

:13 Go to now, ye that say, To day or to morrow we will go into such a city, and continue there a year, and buy and sell, and get gain:
:14 Whereas ye know not what shall be on the morrow. For what is your life? It is even a vapour, that appeareth for a little time, and then vanisheth away.
:15 For that ye ought to say, If the Lord will, we shall live, and do this, or that.
Never presume to have time to do the things you should do. God doesn't promise us that we will live forever on this earth. We do not have time to wait till later to do as we should.

:17 Therefore to him that knoweth to do good, and doeth it not, to him it is sin.
If we know that something is the right thing to do, yet we don't, then we are sinning.

5:16 Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.
Telling each other our faults gives others the opportunity to pray for us. Don't we want that?

The next chapters are from Lamentations.
