2 Kings 1-5

2Kings 2:11 And it came to pass, as they still went on, and talked, that, behold, there appeared a chariot of fire, and horses of fire, and parted them both asunder; and Elijah went up by a whirlwind into heaven.
Now, THAT would have been a sight to see!

5:1-27
This story of Naaman and Gehazi never ceases to amaze me. Naaman was so sure Elisha would do something big and spectacular, to heal him from his leprosy. But, when he was told to go wash in the nasty river, Jordan, not once but 7 times, he was offended. Yet, aren't we a bit like him, at times? Don't we sometimes expect God to do something big, and get upset when He does it in a very "insignificant" way?
And Gehazi! Wow! He decided that Elisha should have been compensated for saving Naaman's life, but was amazed when Elisha refused the gift. He decided that since Elisha didn't want it, the someone should have it, and that someone should be himself. Don't we sometimes expect to be compensated for our good deeds? But, Gehazi was punished for his selfishness. Let's make sure we are doing good things for others because they need something, not to be rewarded for it.

Tomorrow's chapters will be Romans 1-4.
